MountainLine Transit

MountainLine Bus

Free Rides for: WVU students (with student ID), High school students, and Senior residents of Monongalia County. Bus will deviate from route to pick up individuals with a disability for $.50 cents. Each individual route page has a downloadable pdf version of the schedule, if you need large print, electronic copies or other alternate formats of the schedules please call 304-291-RIDE. You can follow their Twitter for live updates and plan your trip ahead of time by utilizing the MountainLine Google Trip Planner.

Newfit

Provides trips to medical appointments for riders that have no other transportation options. Riders with Medicare or who can pay out of pocket ($10 one way or $20 round trip) benefit from this most. Potential users must be approved and scheduled in advance of date needed.


Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) Shuttle

The WVU PRT is a shuttle/train system that offers a continuous loop of stops at stations on Walnut Street, Beechurst Avenue, Towers (on Evansdale Campus), Engineering (on Evansdale Campus), and Medical Center/Health Sciences (in Health Sciences Center). While school is in session, shuttles run Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 10:15 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasionally, the PRT system has disruptions in service; users can see updates via @WVUPRTstatus on Twitter or the banner of the PRT website. If the PRT is not running, bus coverage will run it it's place during the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

WVU community members can use their Mountaineer ID cards for free transportation and community members can ride for 50 cents. Weekend and evening buses are provided for hours when the PRT is closed.

Commuter Parking

There are various options in Morgantown for students who drive to campus. If you are new to WVU please visit the Parking Department's website https://transportation.wvu.edu/information-for-new-students-and-employees that provides an overview of options on campus.

The main options are short-term parking (pay by the hour) and purchasing a parking permit for the semester. Permits are issued by WVU, the Morgantown Parking Authority and multiple private parties in the Morgantown area. You should base your parking decisions on your class schedule, how many hours you have to be on campus per day and what is the most economical decision for your needs. Short-Term Hourly Parking

There are a variety of options for short-term parking in Morgantown. The majority of short-term lots can be paid for with card, coins, or the ParkMobile app. See the WVU Transportation website for a map of all of the WVU short term parking options.

The Coliseum

  • Evansdale

One of the most affordable options for commuter students is the Coliseum Lot, which has a large number of spaces available and costs only $1 per day. The ParkMobile app MUST be used. No other payment option is accepted for this lot.

Morgantown Parking Authority (MPA) operates four multilevel parking garages, ten metered parking lots and street parking. MPA offers short-term 2, 10 and 24 hour lot options. To review their parking options please see the MPA website.


Permit Parking Options

WVU Student Parking Permits

  • Multiple locations

A permit is required for motor vehicles and motorcycles to park in a permitted space on campus. Permits are valid for one year - from August 1 through July 31 of the following year.

After 5 p.m., you may park in WVU permit lots that do not have a 24-hour restriction.

Morgantown Parking Authority also offers Permit Parking for students. Closest garages to Downtown campus are 1340 University Avenue garage and 300 Spruce Street Garage (notated on map above in green MPA logo).

Motown Taxi is local taxi service providing trips within the Morgantown area. Motown Taxi also offers a service both from Morgantown to the Pittsburgh Airport, as well as return trips from Pittsburgh International to Morgantown. Motown Taxi can pick up throughout Pennsylvania to return students to Morgantown. Any students or parents returning to campus from Pennsylvania or the Pittsburgh Airport need only contact their offices at 304-291-8294 to set up service.
