Kay Powney
Kay Powney joined the Office of Campus and Community Life in 2026 as a CARE Team Case Manager.
A West Virginia native and lifelong mountaineer, Kay received a B.A. in English from West Virginia University in 2015, followed by an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from West Virginia University in 2019. Prior to joining the Office of Campus and Community Life, Kay worked as a Prevention Educator and Victim Advocate for the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center, providing life-saving services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and stalking.
Outside of work, Kay volunteers with several local nonprofits, loves to make art, and is an enthusiastic gardener and nature-lover.
